Robin Oakapple – shy, upstanding gentleman farmer – is desperate to ask lovely Rose Maybud to marry him. But he hasn’t the courage! Truth is he hides a dark secret; he is the heir to a curse on all Baronets of Ruddigore and has been living in disguise to escape an evil fate. But the truth is discovered. And Robin is forced to obey the family curse that dictates he must commit a felony every day – or face a lingering death! How will he ever win Rose and return to a tranquil, virtuous life on the farm?!

This hilarious parody of Victorian melodrama has it all: the villain who carries off the maiden; the primly perfect heroine; the hero in disguise; the snake in the grass; the manic, kooky damsel – plus a superfluity of bridesmaids and a ‘fraid’ of ghosts!! Good becomes bad – and bad becomes good in the village of Rederring. And an ancestral gallery comes alive at the Ghosts’ High Noon!

Menopause The Musical

Price: $65.07
All Ages Event

Doors open: 7pm
Show starts: 8pm

Inspired by a hot flush and a bottle of wine, Jeanie Linders created Menopause the Musical as a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived ‘The Change’.  Since its first performance, the show has evolved as a ‘grassroots’ movement of women who deal with life after 40 and all the challenges they conquer mentally, physically and spiritually.

Do you think that 500,000 Australian women could be wrong?  We don’t think so.  After all, that is how many have seen this hilarious show over the last two and a half years.  And they love it!  So much so, many of the audience members have come back time and time again to join with their sisters in this 90 minute, one act laugh-a-thon!

Maybe the attraction is the songs that everyone grew up with – The Great Pretender, Only You, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Stand by Your Man, I Will Survive and twenty more – all sung with gusto and all with their ‘new’ lyrics.  Or maybe it is the realisation that there is a wonderful life waiting after ‘The Change.’

Come and see for yourself. We guarantee that you will leave the theatre uplifted and joyous.

My Leonard Cohen

Price: $59.00
All Ages Event

Doors open: 7pm
Show starts: 8pm

D'Arrietta's 6 piece band presents a stirringly personal tribute to the legendary Cohen.

The musical interpretations are gutsy and arresting.

The stories give an intimate insight into Cohen's life and motivations, with a sprinkling of laconic wit.

Few bodies of musical work rouse, seduce and are of such great solace as that of the great singer songwriter Leonard Cohen.

Expect a collection of Cohen's best, including the heartrending 'Suzanne', the iconic 'Tower Of Song', the desperately sensual 'I’m Your Man', and the mournful, mighty 'Hallelujah' - all delivered as you've never heard them before.

For two decades, Stewart D'Arrietta has brought his own musicality to the works of great songwriters, including Tom Waits, John Lennon and Randy Newman, & has received praise in both Australia & overseas.

'My Leonard Cohen' was a sold out smash hit at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festival with rave reviews from critics & fans alike. A glowing tribute!

Grease is the word as we head into Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “T'Birds” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950’s in this rollicking musical.

Doors open: 1pm
Show starts: 2pm

John Gay’s ‘ The Beggar’s Opera’ took London by storm when it opened on 29 January 1728 and remains one of the most frequently performed English speaking operatic works. ‘The Beggar’s Opera’ has been called ‘one of the most genuinely original works in the history of theatre.’ (Groves Music Dictionary) and paved the way for Gilbert and Sullivan’s operettas and our modern music theatre. Gay wrote the ‘The Beggar’s Opera’ to parody the operas being written by his good friend George Frideric Handel, using spoken dialogue and popular folk tunes of the day. After watching a 1920’s revival in London, Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill created the internationally successful adaptation, ‘The Threepenny Opera.’

This exciting production, while respecting Gay’s original vision, is presented with new musical arrangements and revised dialogue to provide audiences of all ages with an entertaining night of exceptional music theatre. The show does include words and themes from the 18th century which some may find offensive. The FAMS website provides more information – www.FAMS.org.au.

Following the highly acclaimed 13th series of RocKwiz (RocKwiz Salutes The Decades) Australia’s favourite television music trivia show is once again going on the road to present ROCKWIZ LIVE! SALUTES THE ARIA HALL OF FAME.

Since 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has inducted 73 artists into its annual ARIA Hall of Fame, honouring performers, songwriters and others who have had an impact on music culture in Australia.  RocKwiz maintains a close relationship with ARIA and has always featured Hall Of Fame artists and drawn from their repertoire over their ten-year history. In 2010, RocKwiz produced the broadcast of the legendary ARIA Hall Of Fame awards night.

The combination of RocKwiz and the ARIA Hall Of Fame is a match made in rock and roll heaven!

These 20 live shows, in 15 theatres and concert halls around Australia, will feature some of your favourite Australian music legends performing their hits, alongside the brightest and best contemporary artists interpreting genuine Australian classics. As usual, four contestants will be drawn from the audience on the night to sit alongside rock and roll royalty and participate in the madness and mayhem that is RocKwiz Live!

Queen Of The Kwiz, Julia Zemiro, and Rock Brain, Brian Nankervis, will ask the curly questions, the Human Scoreboard, Dugald, will manage the stage and hold up scores and the original RocKwiz Orkestra - James Black, Peter Luscombe and Mark Ferrie, will be joined by Even guitarist Ashley Naylor and the sensational Vika and Linda Bull.

This will be the team’s 4th national tour and they are raring to go! ROCKWIZ LIVE! SALUTES THE ARIA HALL OF FAME will be based on the television format, but with at least four guest artists each night, increased audience involvement, the legendary Contestant Karaoke segment and questions, songs, riffs and anecdotes based on the artists and bands who are in the ARIA Hall Of Fame … many of whom will appear in these shows.  See below for a full list of the ARIA Hall of Fame inductees.

These live shows won’t be filmed; so being there, front and centre, is the only way to experience the special magic of a RocKwiz Live! performance … bigger, bolder and looser than the television episodes. As Brian says, “We stretch out and improvise more in the live shows, taking risks and experimenting without worrying about cameras and lights. It’s liberating and often produces delightfully unexpected results.”

What the public have said about RocKwiz Live! concerts (from the Ticketmaster feedback page):

‘It freaks me out that these guys deliver the quality of entertainment we see every Saturday night on the small screen with such effortless precision, with humour that never misses the mark and flawless delivery of every aspect of the show. These guys are just brilliant at what they do! Not a single blemish on the whole performance and of course the musical acts were outstanding as well.
A million billion stars out of 5’.

‘RocKwiz was an epic adventure in fast comedy and audience participation. The funniest karaoke I've ever seen! Had me laughing till I cried. Great performers, fun, fun, funny! No one was left out and the crazy antics of the RocKwiz hosts kept everyone involved! Just a great night to be had.’

‘Fantastic, I was blown away how really good this show is. I've been a fan for a long time, but never seen them live, I didn’t want to miss a thing. I love their connection with the crowd, amazing! They are all great at their parts, amazing talent, including the band (fantastic guys).’

Now the memory and legend lives on in a very special concert event entitled "The Orchestral Sessions" featuring a 18-piece Orchestra starring one of the world’s first and most-successful Elvis impersonator Max Pellicano, whose uncanny resemblance and equally chilling performance has mesmerised Australians over the last two decades.
