Australia’s greatest soul voice Doug Parkinson presents a night of soul and rock classics. The electric current runs high generated by the powerful 8 piece band and the unique voice of Doug Parkinson.

Joe Cocker and Ray Charles were irresistible forces. Cocker combined a love of American soul music with standout interpretations of other people’s songs. Feelin’ Alright,  Hitchcock Railway, The Letter and You Are So Beautiful.

Ray Charles (The Genius) completely revolutionised popular music with his reinvention of songs in many genres. Rock, Soul, RnB, Gospel, Jazz and Country.

Aretha Franklin ‘The Queen of Soul’ was one of the most successful, and highest selling female artists in the world, acknowledged my many as being one of the greatest female voices of all time. So great was her impact on popular music, she is known worldwide simply as ‘Aretha.’

There couldn't be a more appropriate singer in Australia to showcase the ultimate tribute to both Cocker and Ray Charles than the gravelly soulful voice of Australian singing legend Doug Parkinson, often described as a "Rolled Gold Superstar." a master of interpreting others’ songs.

Doug Parkinson is also a multi-award winning artist of soul, rock and box office hit musicals. A highlight of Doug Parkinson’s show includes his own hit records, the iconic Dear Prudence, I'll Be Around, and Unchained Melody.

Throw in a handful of Motown classics and some redefined songs from your youth, exciting, funny and emotional stories from Doug's life on the road and you have the recipe for an unforgettable nights entertainment.

“You made me laugh, you made me cry.”

“Wow! What a band, world class.”

“We didn't want the night to end.”

“Your voice gets better and better.”

“Your voice, band and show belongs on the world stage.”

Just some of the comments from Doug Parkinson's audience.

From “sold out” theatres around Australia this new show is a night to remember and a night not to be missed.

Late in 2013, James Reyne played two sold-out shows at The Basement in Sydney, exciting fans with a new live offering, A Crawl To Now.  Showcasing a broad selection of Australian Crawl tracks plus songs from his time with Company Of Strangers and his solo hits, the acoustic trio of James with Tracy and Brett Kingman, paid homage to an exceptional body of work. They brought the house down.

With a self-confessed desire to keep up a hectic touring pace, “I’m always playing a gig somewhere, I just love to play live”, Reyne is poised to take A Crawl To Now on the road, playing right across the country through April and May this year.

James’s output in recent years has been prolific, his most recent long player, 2012’s critically acclaimed album ‘Thirteen’.  Music critic Ed Nimmervoll, in reviewing the album said, “He’s a better singer today than ever, better songwriter, better lyricist. Every track on Thirteen tells you how important all three of those aspects of his craft are to him.”

His songs have provided the soundtrack to endless Australian summers, including “The Boys Light Up”, “Reckless”, “Beautiful People”, “Lakeside”, “Daughters Of The Northern Coast”, “Fall Of Rome”, “Hammerhead”, “Motor’s Too Fast” and “Slave”.

Now, following countless requests at live shows and online, James is ready to explore this material further, and will feature songs selected from throughout his career - over twenty albums representing an extensive catalogue, spurning 19 Top 40 hits (seven with Australian Crawl, 12 solo) and 10 Top 10 albums.

Recognised for his extensive charitable undertakings, Reyne received an Order Of Australia in January. His iconic song ‘Reckless’ has featured heavily in the promotion for the forthcoming new series of TV show  ‘Puberty Blues’, and the recent re-release of the Australian Crawl catalogue on itunes resulted in a #4 ARIA Album Chart position for ‘The Greatest Hits’.

Reyne said today, "Whilst I’m not inclined to get all nostalgic, it feels like the right time to go through this material and present it songbook style.  The songs we’ve chosen are a lot of fun to perform - and itscratches my never-ending itch to tour, to play live!”

COLIN HAY BRINGS THE IMMIGRANTS BACK DOWN UNDER!

“Hay is more than a master musician; he is a master storyteller … There’s more to Hay than the Grammy-winning, world-beating rock band of yesteryear. These days, there is no pretention. There is just the music, stripped to its primal form. And the stories. Don't forget the stories” - BrisbaneTimes.com.au

Following the announcement that Colin Hay will be performing at Bluesfest Byron Bay’’s 30th birthday, Colin has today announced he will also be returning to Australia with his merry band of immigrants for shows in Thirroul, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney in April 2019.

Colin Hay, best known as the frontman for Australian hit makers Men at Work, is receiving continued accolades, for his troubadour-style solo performances, spanning the last 30 years, with the release of his 13th, and critically acclaimed album, Fierce Mercy, as well as currently touring the world as a member of Ringo Starr’s All-Starr band.

Colin returns to Australia with his Los Angeles based band, including, from Cuba, San Miguel Pérez (guitar/tres/vocals), Yosmel Montejo (bass/vocals) and Jimmy Branly (drums). Rounding out the front line of the band, is Peru’s own Cecilia Noël (percussion/vocals) and Scheila Gonzalez (keyboard/flute/ sax/vocals) whose family hails from Guatemala. All these musicians are the real deal and are legends in their own right.

Musically, Hay gives a bit of all of his career in the setlist and a lot of who he is personally between the songs … The show is like catching up with an old friend. - Noise 11

The 2010s have been breakout years for this career artist and has included performances on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live and ABC’s Greatest Hits; sharing the stage with Of Monsters and Men, Milk Carton Kids, Choir Choir Choir!, Kings of Leon; being publicly cited as an influence by artists as distinct as James Hetfield (Metallica), Jeremiah Fraites (The Lumineers), Troy Sanders (Mastodon) and The Infamous Stringdusters; as well as the completion of a documentary film about his career entitled Waiting for My Real Life, named for one of his best known solo recordings. Now finding himself in the unprecedented place of having both ’80s fame and a growing cross generational audience, it's possible that Hay is having the time of his life.

Fierce Mercy, Hay’s 13th solo album released in 2017, was recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville and explores themes of love and loss, mortality, and even the odd UFO sighting, but always with the singular perspective and insight that define Hay’s work.

Alongside the thoughtful storytelling in his songs, Hay’s shows are peppered with hilarious anecdotes from his, often surreal, experiences in the world of rock music.

"Touring the land of the wombat and smashed avo toast is one of life’s great joys. Since we were last there, the Cubans have been hassling me, and asking when we’re going back. As it happens, we’re coming back in April ‘19, delightedly so I may add, and more than likely coming to a city within striking distance of where you be. We’re a touring band, and touring is what we love to do; it’s a way of life”, Colin Hay said. “Come join us for a good night out, what’s better than that?"

Special guests in Melbourne will be the wonderful Vika and Linda Bull. For 30 years, the glorious voices of the Bull Sisters have comprised one of the most distinctive, versatile and emotionally charged sounds on the Australian music landscape. Since their multi-platinum conquest of pop radio with The Black Sorrows in the late 1980s, the sisters have forged diverse pathways into soul, gospel, blues, country and the island music of their Tongan ancestry.

Opening the shows in Thirroul, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney will be the celestial Cecilia Noël.

Cecilia Noël is a bandleader, and enjoyed legendary status in Los Angeles and beyond, during the 90’s and 2000s. This was an Afro-Cuban inspired, salsoul funk extravaganza - a unique band, fronted by a uniquely talented woman, from the streets of Lima Peru. She is passionate, flamboyant, exotic, and most of all, a true music artist. Her last album, Havana Rocks, won the Cuban Grammy (Cubadisco), for Best International Album. She lights up every stage she steps on, and will open these shows with a mix of both traditional and original contemporary songs.

Fans seeking tickets for Colin’s shows are reminded to only buy tickets from the official ticket agents listed below so as to avoid “reselling” sites such as Viagogo who typically advertise heavily online and often mislead consumers into paying much higher prices than necessary.

General public tickets go on sale at 10.00am local times, Friday, 24 August 2018. On Tuesday, 21 August exclusive pre-sales for Colin Hay fan club members and venue/Ticketmaster members will commence at 10.00am until 10.00am on Thursday, 23 August.

Fierce Mercy is out now through Sony Music Australia.

TEG DaintyNice Events and David Roy Williams Entertainment are excited to announce that Postmodern Jukebox will return to Australia and New Zealand in September and October 2019 following four hugely successful tours in as many years.

To usher in the upcoming Twenty-Twenties, the famed time-twisting musical collective will circumnavigate the globe with their Welcome to the Twenties 2.0 Tour. The tour is meant to prepare the world for a new decade—one that Postmodern Jukebox creator Scott Bradlee hopes will see a return to the style and craftsmanship that typified the music of past generations.

“Last time around the 'Twenties gave us Jazz, America's one true art form. Who knows what is possible in the 2020s?" says Bradlee. "One thing that is for sure is that there are a lot of folks that are tired of the clickbait headlines, mindless reality TV, and smartphone addiction that has only served to divide people in the last decade. We're using our small corner of the pop culture space to tell people to forget their troubles and come join us for a night of celebrating true musical talent and timeless style - live and in real life."

“When creating a touring version of the Postmodern Jukebox concept, we work on pairing the right talent with the right material and building a unique and amazing experience for Postmodern Jukebox fans,” Bradlee says. “Get ready for the most sensational '20s party this side of The Great Gatsby."

Started by Bradlee in 2009, Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) has gone on to amass over one billion YouTube views with 3.5 million subscribers, and have chalked up more than 1.7 million fans on Facebook. For the past half-decade, PMJ has toured the world, playing hundreds of shows to sold-out houses on six continents. They’ve also performed on shows like “Good Morning America,” topped iTunes and Billboard charts, and caught the attention of NPR Music, NBC News and a wide array of celebrity fans.

Californian rockers, Smash Mouth, have just announced they will return to Australia in November 2018 to play shows across the East Coast. The band will bring their unique sound that they have well and truly created and a style that is comfortably their very own.

Smash Mouth were regular chart toppers and rode the wave of the 90’s ‘alternative’ music scene, selling in excess of 10 million albums worldwide. They are no strangers to our audiences with songs like the All Star, Can’t Get Enough of You Baby, Walkin’ On The Sun and celebrated Monkees classic I’m A Believer, all of which have become radio staples and included on party playlists everywhere!

Last year, the multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated band celebrated the 20th anniversary of their debut, smash-hit album “Fush Yu Mang”. Out of nowhere, the single Walkin’ On The Sun was an immediate international sensation and quickly shot to No. 1 on the US Billboard charts, and eventually boosting the album sales to over 3 million copies in the US alone. In the two decades since, Smash Mouth have not slowed down. In fact, they are still vibrant as ever with their groovy beats, memorable melodies and fun lyrics.

Their 1999 release ‘Astrolounge’ was a brilliant follow-up album boasting three top- ten hits (“All-Star”, “Then The Morning Comes”, and “Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby”) and sales for that album nearly doubled those for their debut. Smash Mouth’s third, eponymous release featured the smash hit “I’m a Believer”. Around that time, Smash Mouth crossed over into the film world by providing the musical heart of the soundtrack for “Shrek.

Smash Mouth is indeed – at its core – about having fun.

Inducted into the ARIA HALL OF FAME in 2010 and the recipient of more awards than he cares to mention, there is no question that JOHN WILLIAMSON is the real deal, stands by what he represents and is unashamedly proud of the country he loves. For this artist, whilst the awards are a nice recognition, there is no doubt it is the reaction from his audience that is the most important.

Along his journey he has been inducted into the prestigious ARIA Hall of Fame, secured three ARIA Awards, 25 Golden Guitars, MO Awards, APRA Awards, Platinum and Gold albums and over 4 million album sales to name just some of the recognition he has earnt.

It all started when he penned that classic OLD MAN EMU back in 1970. From this ‘silly’ song (as he often refers to it) that went to #1 for five weeks, he has continued to create hits including TRUE BLUE, COOTAMUNDRA WATTLE, RIP RIP WOODCHIP, RAINING ON THE ROCK, THE BIG RED, WINTER GREEN, SALISBURY STREET, GALLERIES OF PINK GALAHS and HAWKESBURY RIVER LOVIN’ to name but a few of the 400+ songs written by the multi-award winning songwriter.

He continues to be at the forefront of significant events in Australia, presenting the voice of Australia when it is needed most. From the 2011 Rugby League Grand Final through to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Steve Irwin's memorial, the Bledisloe Cup, Sir Donald Bradman's memorial, the Rugby World Cup, the first Bali Bombings memorial service and the list goes on. He is ingrained in Australia's history as much as its future.

You can call him what you want, Mallee Boy, True Blue or just plain Fair Dinkum; but there is no denying that after more than forty years in the music industry, John Williamson is truly an Australian icon.

John will release his new album ‘BUTCHERBIRD’ in August 2018 and is touring Australia performing his biggest hits to sold out shows.

PMJ-FBAd-20p.jpg

Doors open: 7pm
Show starts: 8pm

Each time around, PMJ looks forward to bringing their unique spin on modern pop hits and retro pop stylings to new cities for the first time, as well as revisiting favourite haunts that welcome them back with eagerly open arms. And as any PMJ fan can tell you, the experience is never the same twice, with new songs, new sounds, and new members added to the ever-growing family each time around.

Since Scott Bradlee created the project in 2009, PMJ has amassed more than 900 million YouTube views and 3.2 million subscribers, chalked up more than 1 million likes on Facebook, performed on “Good Morning America,” topped iTunes and Billboard charts, caught the attention of NPR Music and NBC News, and played hundreds of shows to sold-out houses around the world.

That seemingly exhausting pace hasn’t stopped Bradlee from arranging and recording new arrangements every week for PMJ’s legion of fans.

Imagine marrying the 21st Century party vibe of Miley Cyrus or the minimalist angst of Radiohead with the crackly warmth of a vintage 78 or the plunger-muted barrelhouse howl of a forgotten Kansas City jazzman. Bradlee’s choice of material ranges from the ‘80s hard rock of Guns N’ Roses to hits as recent as 2015’s Justin Bieber plea “Sorry.” They’re rendered by a rotating cast of musicians and singers in fashions that date back to a time when Axl, Slash and Bieber’s parents had yet to be born – a time of street corner harmonies and torch singers, blues belters and golden-voiced crooners.

Last year, PMJ collected 18 favourites to compile The Essentials for Concord Records. The album featured the songs that Bradlee has called “most essential to the PMJ universe,” including hits by Beyoncé, the White Stripes, Lorde, Outkast and Maroon 5 – along with the song that put the band on the map, a vaudevillian distressing of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” fronted by Robyn Adele Anderson that garnered more than a million views within a week of being posted. The pin-up styled singer returned for the album’s opener, their ‘50s doo-wop version of Miley Cyrus’ celebration of an inhibition-shedding spree, “We Can’t Stop,” which garnered more than 19.5 million views and was named one of the “9 Best Viral Cover Videos of 2015” by People magazine.

PMJ has long since outgrown the cramped confines of Bradlee’s small apartment in Queens, NY, where the original videos were shot at a time when he was one of countless struggling musicians in the city, to play some of the most heralded stages in the world. The spirit, though, has remained the same – a collective of musicians dedicated to the timelessness of music, performing songs vibrantly and without a trace of irony. And the media has taken notice: Entertainment Weekly wrote, “Scott Bradlee’s group is known for retro-fying modern hit songs into viral success,” while Yahoo! Music added, “if you’ve been on YouTube in the last couple of years, then you’re familiar with the everything-new-is-old-again brilliance of the viral phenomenon known as Postmodern Jukebox.”

“I take pride in putting together the right powers and personalities to create a unique and amazing experience for our fans,” Bradlee says. “We want them to escape reality and join us for the most sensational 1920s party this side of The Great Gatsby. We want them to experience what it was like to be at the New Years' Eve show that Sinatra would have hosted in the 1940s. We want them to feel the excitement of hearing the greats of Motown live and up close. Our goal is to give our audiences their favorite show again and again and still have it feel like the very first time."

Australia’s largest scale Pink Floyd concept show entitled Echoes of Pink Floyd will finally tour its two-hour full scale concert production nationally in 2018 taking in Capital Cities and many major Regional towns.

Celebrating 35 years since Pink Floyd last toured “The Wall”, Echoes of Pink Floyd will perform tracks from the band’s iconic 1979 album and will engage local schools to provide the “Brick in the Wall” choir.  The tour also celebrates 50 years since Pink Floyd released their first album and will play a selection of Pink Floyd’s greatest hits that spans the band’s momentous career.

Synchronised to the music and designed to recreate the sights and emotions of a genuine Pink Floyd concert, Paul says, “It’s not just the music, it’s the circle, the show and the whole experience.” “We are the only act that is touring trussing that supports this incredible 4 metre circle that can project 6000 lumens video. It really is a show not to be missed.”

Several years in development and having accumulated over 5000 hours of rehearsal time to perfect these songs, Echoes of Pink Floyd comprises a six-piece band – featuring Daniel Hunter on lead guitar; Jason Miller on drums; Mark Dole on bass; Paul Bindig on keyboards and synthesisers; Mark MacNab on rhythm and acoustic guitar and Matt Goodluck on lead vocals – whose aim is to authentically replicate the brilliant sights and sounds of one of the world’s greatest progressive rock bands of all time, Pink Floyd. The Adelaide tribute has been garnering attention from attention since they began in 2009, with audiences describing the show as “one of the best” and “a musical and visual journey that never disappoints”, whilst also likening them to “the original band”.

Echoes of Pink Floyd’s Daniel Hunter says, “Each member of the band loves and respects what the original Pink Floyd gave to the world with their music and we want to bring this to life for the audience who may not have had a chance to experience a Pink Floyd concert”.  “We aim to ensure every aspect of the original Pink Floyd music is captured authentically, he adds”.

Bass guitarist Mark Dole says, “At core, we are looking at the legacy of the music.  Our vision and desire is to keep this music alive so it will be remembered for generations to come. We want to stand up as the next representatives of these guys in the 21st century, by being the truly authentic Pink Floyd concept show for Australia”.

Country music icon and all-round Aussie legend Kasey Chambers has today announced the release of her 12th studio album, Campfire, to be released on 27 April.

Chambers has said that the inspiration for the album came from her childhood, spent in regional communities.

"I grew up in the remote outback of Australia living a unique lifestyle isolated from civilisation. The campfire was the heart of our existence: for survival, creativity, inspiration. We hunted all our own food and then cooked it on the campfire," she explained.

"My brother and I did all our schooling via correspondence around the campfire. We used the campfire for warmth and light. We gathered around the campfire at night to play songs together as a family. Our connection to music and the land has developed through and around the campfire since I was born, so it has always stayed with me as a special part of my life."

Chambers has just dropped her first single from the album, The Campfire Song, as well as a video. Check it out below.

In celebration of the new album, Chambers will be heading off on a massive national tour, starting off in Casino, in May and wrapping up in Wonthaggi in August, while hitting nearly 40 other shows in between.

Doors open: 7pm
Show starts: 8pm (support: Perry Keyes and Band)

The Whitlams will tour nationally in their classic four-piece configuration to bring their 25th year to a rowdy finale.

Starting the anniversary year in May 2017 selling out concert halls in each state capital with 60 piece orchestras, they end it with a jaunt through their favourite pub and small theatre gigs around the country. They are ditching the conductor and the charts, and are back to the common muscle-memory of 1000 shows and six albums.

The Whitlams' line up of Tim Freedman on piano and vocals, Jak Housden on guitar, Warwick Hornby on bass and Terepai Richmond on drums will be delivering the sort of sprawling, rambunctious set they have become famous for.
